How to write resume - Resume Tips

  • Choose correct and appropriate title for required job. If you use headings which do not clearly define about your desired job will eventually disqualifying of your resume in result.
  • Design of resume should be attractive and get attention as it is handed over. Should not be overloaded with text. It needs to be well organized.
  • Carefully read ad for the job you are applying for. Prepare your resume accordingly and use right terms and keywords in resume described in advertisement.
  • Figure out needs for employer and try to work over the needs and then mentioned them in resume to create good first impress.
  • Your personality should match for the salary of the job you are looking at. Formal dressing is important, Wear nice color combinations in clothing to give smoothing effect at employer
  • You can get more interview calls by optimizing your resume and its cover page by addressing specific skills to respect employers.
  • Technical knowledge should be in top list of your resume. Your strengths must be very clear and should stand out in your resume.
  • Mention your qualifications with regards to the job you are applying for. Mention your degree at the top if it is relevant to the job. If you have done job already for which you are applying for, make sure you list it first.
  • Mention your experience in numbers, i.e. whenever it is possible list down your experience for certain job, number of achievements made, number of projects completed in given time, number awards won, number of machines operated etc.

  • Show your self as you are proactive, someone who use time efficiently and completes job in give time. Start your sentences with action verbs. Try to use past tense whenever it is possible, even in explanation of current job.
  • Write your resume like you are advertising you’re self. Show positive points more to get good impressions. Do not get sold cheaply.
  • Explain necessary things regarding your professional career. But be precise, don’t mention useless descriptions
  • Use articles like the, an, a as less as possible.
  • Before submitting your resume, ask some one trust worthy to go through resume being neutral judge.
  • Making mistakes on your resume will drop its qualification chances on huge level. Make sure there are no spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, unusual punctuations. It is better to have it proofread before hand.
  • Some times it is important to not to mention you age, If you are 45 + do not mention you entire career history, but mention relevant job history under the title of “Recent job experiences” then mention the number of years of experience in the field.
  • If you have never worked for any company before, don’t mention it in your resume at all. But just mention that you are self employed.
  • Best way to have any affect on your boss is to mention PAR lines. PAR statements are “Problem-Action-Result”. Explain the state of problem first at your previous work area and then mention the actions you took to resolve that problem.
  • Don’t list your work which is way back in the past. Ten to fifteen years old work should be enough to mention in resume. Unless your best of best work is in the pat and you worth cannot be shown without mentioning it.
  • How can students apply for summer jobs? Students can have effective resume by listing seasonal jobs as spring 2007 or winter 2007 instead of 6/2007 or 12/2007
